Its many provisions, especially those addressing climate change, health care costs, and closing tax loopholes, have long been high priorities for Democrats, but up until now,\u00a02022 legislation that includes climate change has been blocked by \u00a0Senator Joe Manchin.\u00a0 We can champion this apparent breakthrough by urging support from Senators Brown, Portman and Representative Turner. From Public Citizen, the act would<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u201cInvest $369 billion in climate and energy proposals \u2014 making it the most substantial step Congress has ever taken to confront climate change.<\/li><li>Devote $64 billion to lower Affordable Care Act premiums for millions of Americans.<\/li><li>Save $288 billion on drug spending \u2014 including by giving Medicare the ability, at last, to negotiate prices for some prescription medicines.<\/li><li>Generate $313 billion in revenue through a 15% minimum tax on multinational corporations.<\/li><li>Raise another $138 billion in revenue by increasing IRS enforcement against bazillionaires and Big Business and by closing a tax loophole exploited by venture capitalists and private equity firms\u201d<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Senate Democrats emphasize that in the act there &nbsp;\u201care no new taxes on families making $400,000 or less and no new taxes on small businesses.\u201d Financing comes from \u201cclosing tax loopholes and enforcing the tax code.\u201d&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.democrats.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/inflation_reduction_act_one_page_summary.pdf\">https:\/\/www.democrats.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/inflation_reduction_act_one_page_summary.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More than its name!\u00a0\u00a0 Let\u2019s show our support for the recently announced Inflation Reduction Act of 2022!
