Greene County Flood\nRisk Information Open House Scheduled<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The general public is invited\nto review preliminary floodplain maps and learn about flood risk in their\ncommunity. Those interested may drop-in at any time during the event to\ntalk one-on-one with FEMA and State ODNR representatives.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n CHICAGO- Representatives from the\nU.S. Department of Homeland Security\u2019s Federal Emergency Management Agency\n(FEMA), in conjunction with Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) will\nhost a Flood Risk Information Open House on Wednesday, November 20, 2019\nfrom 5:00 \u2013 7:00 PM<\/strong> at the Greene County Social Services\nBuilding Media Room: 541 Ledbetter Road, Xenia, OH 45385. The Open\nHouse will provide residents with an opportunity to review a recently completed\npreliminary Flood Insurance Study (FIS) and its accompanying preliminary Flood\nInsurance Rate Maps (FIRMs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n The FIS and the FIRMs\nprovide vase flood information, delineate areas subject to significant flood\nhazards within the county, and offer information public officials may use when\npermitting development in the floodplain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Open House will\nbe staffed with representatives from various local, state, and federal agencies\nwho will provide information about flood risk, flood insurance, floodplain\ndevelopment regulations, and the process for floodplain mapping. The newly prepared\npreliminary floodplain maps will be on display. Once the maps become effective,\nthese maps will be used by floodplain permit officials, builders and\ndevelopers, lenders, realtors, insurance agents and the general public to\ndetermine flood risk, develop mitigation measures, and encourage wise and\nresponsible risk management decision-making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Property owners,\nrealtors, lenders and insurance agents are urged to attend and take advantage\nof this preparedness, protection, response, recovery, and mitigation to reduce\nthe loss of life and property and support a culture of readiness for all\nhazards, including natural disasters, acts of terrorism and other major\nincidents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
