Position Title: Field Director

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Duration: Core position at ODP; can be negotiated beyond 2020 cycle

Preferred Experience: previous work in Ohio, 3 years political experience, 1 full cycle on statewide race, congressional race or state-based organization

The Ohio Democratic Party is seeking a Field Director to oversee the execution of ODP’s volunteer outreach and voter engagement program statewide. This Director is responsible for:

  • Managing voter engagement projects and initiatives from inception to completion;
  • Managing team of political outreach and organizing staff;
  • Drafting & executing the statewide field plan & hiring and training field staff;  Implementing field ‘best practices’ and reporting procedures;
  • Drafting memos and other documents for internal and external stakeholders;
  • Building relationships with local leaders, key stakeholders, county chairs and activists in preparation for a statewide campaign effort; and
  • Building a strong party for future years and election cycles.

This position reports to the Executive Director with substantial involvement from the Director of Party Affairs.

Qualified candidates should have:

  • At least four cycles of field experience on issue or electoral campaigns, with two cycles managing staff;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (e.g. respectful, inclusive, active listening, ability to make people feel comfortable, ability to persuade without appearing overly domineering, etc.);’
  • Good time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Extensive experience with VoteBuilder;
  • Be comfortable and confident in public speaking; be prepared to be the public face of the organization at times;
  • The ability to build and motivate a team;
  • Some experience with political, constituency, or community organizing helpful;
  • Commitment to details, results meeting goals, and using data to inform decisions in the field;

The position is highly collaborative and crucial to ODP achieving its mission of electing Democrats 2019 and 2020. Thus, the Director should be prepared to take on any and all additional duties as assigned to that end. Working night and weekend events and statewide travel are required of this position.

Greene County Flood Risk Information Open House Scheduled

The general public is invited to review preliminary floodplain maps and learn about flood risk in their community.  Those interested may drop-in at any time during the event to talk one-on-one with FEMA and State ODNR representatives.

CHICAGO- Representatives from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in conjunction with Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) will host a Flood Risk Information Open House on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Greene County Social Services Building Media Room:  541 Ledbetter Road, Xenia, OH  45385. The Open House will provide residents with an opportunity to review a recently completed preliminary Flood Insurance Study (FIS) and its accompanying preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs).

The FIS and the FIRMs provide vase flood information, delineate areas subject to significant flood hazards within the county, and offer information public officials may use when permitting development in the floodplain.

The Open House will be staffed with representatives from various local, state, and federal agencies who will provide information about flood risk, flood insurance, floodplain development regulations, and the process for floodplain mapping. The newly prepared preliminary floodplain maps will be on display. Once the maps become effective, these maps will be used by floodplain permit officials, builders and developers, lenders, realtors, insurance agents and the general public to determine flood risk, develop mitigation measures, and encourage wise and responsible risk management decision-making.

Property owners, realtors, lenders and insurance agents are urged to attend and take advantage of this preparedness, protection, response, recovery, and mitigation to reduce the loss of life and property and support a culture of readiness for all hazards, including natural disasters, acts of terrorism and other major incidents.

Public Hearings for New Jail

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS

The Greene County Board of Commissioners will conduct two public hearings to receive testimony on the proposed levying of an additional 0.25 percent to the County Sales and Use Tax for the purpose of supporting Criminal and Administrative Justice Services in Greene County, pursuant to Ohio Revised Code 5739.021.  The Greene County Sheriff will make a presentation at each public hearing on the need for Criminal and Administrative Justice Services as well as projected costs.

The first hearing will be held Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. and the second hearing will be held Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. Both hearings will be in the Commissioners’ meeting chambers, 35 Greene Street, Xenia, Ohio.
